Welcome to my portfolio. The work introduced here is representative of my various professional endeavors over the past few years. The bulk of my work is related to language education, with an emphasis on English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL). I have been teaching or tutoring language for nearly two decades and am currently in charge of the Business English program in the Faculty of Economics at Kobe Gakuin University in Japan. My ESL/EFL research interests include language learning motivation, learner autonomy and extensive reading.

Another related area that caught my attention during my graduate studies in the Language Education program at Indiana University (IU) is instructional design. This field interested me so much that I decided to pursue another M.S. through the Instructional Systems Technology department at IU. I am particularly interested in finding ways to apply what is known in this field to language education, i.e. designing effective language instruction.

My involvement in the above two areas has led me into curriculum development and designing programs of instruction. This is the area where I feel I can best employ my skills and knowledge developed in the other two areas.

My intention here is to offer viewers a glimse of my skills as well as my underlying educational philosophy. I welcome any comments or suggestions and would like to hear from other individuals interested in collaborating in any of these areas.
